Warmer Weather

As the weather is getting warmer, please remember to send your child to school with:

  • A labelled water bottle
  • Sun screen (the kind that comes in a stick format works best as they can apply it independently)
  • A labelled hat

Playing Cards

Lately the children have been interested in playing card games. It's a great way to practice number recognition and value. Our favourite game involves determining which player has the card with the highest value.

Our Interest Board

We decided to create a classroom interest board. Students can come at any point in the day and write what they are interested in or what they would like to learn more about. We work together to find resources on their desired topics.

It sparked a lot of interesting discussions; students were engaged as they took the lead on their own learning. It's also a great way to practice our spelling and printing.

Visiting the Chicks

Students in grade 1 had the opportunity to learn about eggs; they watched the chicks hatch. We had the chance to visit and talk about them. It sparked a rich discussion about taking care of the eggs, the growth and development of the chicks, etc.

Book Fair

Just a reminder that tomorrow, May 5th, is our class scheduled visit to the book fair.

Show and Tell and Pajama Day

The children have been working hard in and outside of class to earn a special event/ reward.  They have chosen to bring a toy from home to school. On Friday May 6th, children are invited to bring a medium sized toy from home for show and tell.

Please do not send more than one toy with your child. Make sure there are no small parts (we do not want them to go missing) and nothing with weapons.

Also, Friday May 6th is a school wide pajama day.

New Calendar Page

Previously we had a calendar located on the home page of the blog. Due to some difficulties, we've moved our classroom calendar. There is a new link/ page on the top of the blog titled "calendar". Please refer back here for new and upcoming events.

Thank you!
